I read it twice, first time in English and than Italian. Fantastic!! I also read 1984, but after reading that book I felt so uncomfortable, it was so real. Just amazing how Orwell could write this 50/60 years ago.

Re-read Animal Farm.
by The Rebel ini was one of many witness children, who studied this book in english literature class.. having re-read it as an adult it addressed so many issues i have with the organisation.
including maniputive control, the re-writing of history etc etc.
so many of the characters in the book, resembled characters i have known in the organisation.. boxer- loyalty without questioning.. squeler- a character who doesn't care about truth, and uses rhetoric of language to twist truth.. clover-who silently questions decisions, but stays loyal.. if your young, or old i would suggest reading this small book, by george orwell.

Marry Only in the Lord
by Rattigan350 inlast night at the meeting, a local needs talk preempted the regularly scheduled part.
an elder who is the most society following elder talked about loving god and then he talked about bible principles such as marry only in the lord.
he talked of deut.

My wife had " a marking talk " almost 30 years ago. Not only, they tried to push some single brothers to candidate themselves, one in particulary had a crush on her. We married at the townhall, no Jws present except one elderly couple ( so thankful they came, it meant a lot to me ).

I love this forum, I can say that I fully agree with the Russian ban on Jws and I will not look for professional help.

Disfellowshipping decision to go before Canadian Supreme Court
by Simon inhigh court will examine whether judicial review applies to membership decisions made by religious groups.
the supreme court of canada has agreed to hear an appeal involving a calgary man who was kicked out of his jehovah's witness church.. randy wall, a real estate agent was "disfellowshipped" from the highwood congregation for being drunk on two occasions and allegedly verbally abusing his wife.. as a result, he says his clients refused to do further business with him, so he argued his property and civil rights were affected.. after losing three internal church appeals of his expulsion, wall made an application with the court of queen's bench in calgary which ordered a hearing to first determine if there was jurisdiction for the court to hear the application.. decisions and appeals.
a judge decided the superior court did have jurisdiction to hear the application.. the church then appealed wall's decision to the alberta court of appeal, which upheld the court of queen's bench, affirming the court has jurisdiction to hear the matter.. one of the three appeal court judges dissented — arguing that congregations are private organizations akin to bridge clubs, whose decisions "are not enforceable promises and have limited, if any, impact outside its small circle.".

There is a similar case, her in Europe ( Belgium ), where Jacques le Jeune worked as a financial advisor for a lot Jws and among these some elders. He was cheated by one of the elders and you can immagine what happened after;" JC and disfellowshipment ", so he lost a big part of his business. He is now waiting, after mor than 10 years, a decision of the belgian supreme court but is expecting this case will end up at the european court.

Dear supporters of Russia's JW Ban:
by Jehalapeno inthis is the kind of government you are supporting.. over 100 gay men have been sent to concentration camps for homosexuals in chechnya and three people have been killed.. stop supporting fascism.. if you support the russia jw ban, what other thoughts and beliefs are you ok with policing?.
if you support the jw russia ban, have you read george orwell's 1984?
don't you realize you are advocating for literal fascism when you support the banning of a belief system?

Yes, I am still supporting the ban and I think you are a little bit confused..

Hi forum
by A Believer ini proably shouldnt be on here but i feel like saying this.
i have been for the last couple weeks been studying religion.
i've learned the only ones who today do what the bible says to is jw.
-
roberto avon
A Believer, what do you mean by;" I have studied the trinity "?
If you mean you have read a " wts book " about the trinity this is NOT STUDYING but reading "NONSENSE".
Did you study Plato, Tertullian, Lohse, Fortman, Giustinian, Antenagoras???? If you don't have any skills just read jwfactscom..
The word trinity isn"t the bible? Nor governing body, 1914, jehovah's witnesses etc.
In the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit, ever thought of that??
By the way;" I couldn't care less who is right but since the Jws say that you shouldn't believe in the trinity, most probably ( for Christians ) the trinity is the TRUTH, because Jws are always ( almost ) wrong.
Just get baptized as a Jw ( in the name of the father, the son... ) but remember;" Jws are always wrong ".

Can an atheist date jw?
by concernCitizen inhey everyone!.
first of all, i'm not a jw, in fact i'm an atheist, or if you really want to be technical about it i'm probably something like an agnostic atheist or something.. but, my girlfriend is a jw, she seems very rational about it though, it seems to me that she believes in a lot of it but not exactly all, for instance she does understands and believes in the scientific age of the earth and evolution.. when we started dating almost a year ago she made it clear she as religious person.
i never saw that as a problem, it's not like i'm trying to convert her or she's trying to convert me.

it seems a little bit my story. I married a Jw almost 29 years ago.
For sure I don't know if Italian Jws are different from other Jws in the world but I seems so..
She is and was always very " liberal" and we raised 3 children, non of them are Jws.
She still goes to the KH but only a couple of times a month and that's it. I would compare her to a non practisant catholic but to be honest I have to admit after almost 30 years of experience that I was lucky and met the right girl.
Since your girlfriend decided to stay with a "wordly" guy it means she is not a fanatic but you should pay attention to her Jehovah-friends and family ....
My wife seperated her " personal " religion fron our family life and everything went well

ARE THERE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ITALIAN, GERMAN AND AMERICAN ( or Anglosaxon countries) JWS ?
by roberto avon inreading many of the posts on this and on other sites i came to this conclusion.
my experiences living among jws are;- my brothers in law are and were entrepeneurs since 25 years working very hard and earning good money.
so they are quite wealthy- they bought nice houses and big cars and go on holiday around the world- we had in our family two dfshipments but there was no shunning- their children had the opportunity to study and for the moment not all became jdubs.- they have an acceptable relationship with the part of non jw familyis this tipically " italian "?

Is this tipically " Italian "? or is it just the part of Jws of which we never speak
